River

  • It is placed on the main entrance of the footpath, the way towards the Bandhavgarh Fort. The origin of the river “Charan Ganga” inflows from the foot of “Lord Vishnu” and so the name is being derived from. The statue is believed to be the asset of 10th century.

  • Source of River Charan Ganga at Bandhavgarh National Park. The place is situated in the middle of National Park on a hill (800 m) where the water accumulates at the feet of Lord Vishnu who is scupted in a reclining position on 7-hooded snake called Sheshnag. 
  • The statue is thus called Shesh Shaiya. Close to the status is another monolith Shiva Lingam (the phallus of the Destroyer God Shiva). The river feeds a lot of mammals of this National Park including Tiger – the star of this park.
