The Nilkanth Mahal is over looking a valley and we climbed down steep steps to reach the place. Neelkanth Mahadev temple is there with a Shivlinga which is placed few steps underground and there is a natural spring of water from above which is doing Abhishekam to Shivlinga. We are allowed to go down the steps near the Shivlinga and take water with our hands and do abhishekam to Shiva. The pandit quietly sits there and offer tikka and prashad. He never demanded money. The spring of water then collects in a kund (tank) down. The level of water remains upto the brim always. from there there is a single spiral structure resembling two sepants facing each other through which the water flows from the kund and goes underground to fall in the valley below. This kind of spiral structures are seen in Jahaz Mahal also. The water lilies and Erukkam flower which are king size offered here to SHiva. As per local belief, I have placed the leaf in the water spiral and it whirled through - signifies your wish will be fulfilled. Being able to have dharshan of such rare temples is by itself a boon. Must visit place in Mandu.
