Sindh River

  • The Sindh River is the biggest river flowing in the Malwa region of Madhya Pradesh state. 
  • It originates on the Malwa Plateau in Vidisha district and flows north-northeast through the districts of Guna,Ashoknagar, Shivpuri, Datia, Gwalior and Bhind in Madhya Pradesh to join Yamuna river in Etawah district in Uttar Pradesh, just after the confluence of the Chambal river with the Yamuna river. 
  • It plays a major role in the irrigation system of the state.  
  • The total length of the river is 470 km. out of which 461 km are in Madhya Pradesh and about 9 km are in Uttar Pradesh. 
  • The major tributaries of Sindh River are Kunwari, Pahuj, Parbati and Mah.
