A hill of white temples sacred to Digambar Jains
Sonagiri (literally 'Golden Mountain') is a serene Jain pilgrim site in Datia district, 60 km from Gwalior. The hilltop is crowned by 77 white marble temples, the oldest dating from the 9th century.
Sonagiri is one of the most important pilgrimage centres of the Digambar Jain sect, dedicated principally to Bhagwan Chandraprabhu, the 8th Tirthankara.
