The Classical Music Heartland: Madhya Pradesh
Madhya Pradesh, which is frequently referred to as the “Heart of India,” has a long history of music. Over the ages, it has developed into a thriving environment for the emergence of numerous gharanas, each of which adds a unique flavor to the classical music community. One of the most well-known is the Gwalior Gharana, which is recognized for its skill in khayal singing, and the Maihar Gharana, which was made popular by Ustad Allauddin Khan and other great performers.
