Pachmarhi Utsav 2022 Date, Venue

It is a 6-day annual festival that usually begins on December 25 and concludes by New Year. The festival showcases folk dances like Matki, Raai, Ahirai, and Bhagoria. Besides catching the sight of colorful folk dances of Madhya Pradesh, people also get a chance to enjoy the folk music of the state.

Every evening of the fiesta features eye-catching art depiction, performances, competitions and so much more for the entertainment of visitors. There are exhibitions and craft fairs which attract a lot of tourists from all around the country.

The festival also features exhibition cum sale stalls by local artisans and weavers. There are handloom clothes, handmade artifacts, bamboo items, handwoven carpets, and wooden craft items that one can purchase.  

3. Hill Station

Pachmarhi is not just known for being the host of this vibrant cultural festival but also for its impeccable beauty. Not many are aware that Pachmarhi is a beautiful hill station. The place is also known as ‘Satputra ki Rani’. Rajat Pratap Waterfall, Pandava Caves, Chauragarh Temple, and Jata Shankar Caves are the top tourist destinations located in Pachmarhi.  

4. Local Food

Taste the local delicacies from the food stalls at the festival or explore the local markets to savour the streetside food. If you are planning to witness the festival then you must take some time out to try the following local dishes like Daal Bafla, Seekh Kabab, Bhutte ka Kees, Bhopali Gosht Korma, Chakki ki Shaak, and Mawa Bati.

Pachmarhi is a beautiful hill station that is home to a rich biosphere reserve comprising waterfalls, forests, streams, and a wide variety of flora and fauna. Every year tourists from all parts of the country arrive here to witness the natural beauty and festivals of Pachmarhi. From Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru one is required to cover a distance of nearly 915 via NH 44, 920 via NH 52, 1,350 via NH 19, and 1,300km via NH 44 respectively.

By Road

The festival takes place at Pachmarhi in the Hoshangabad district of Madhya Pradesh and one may drive to the city in one’s personal car or bike or may take the inter-state tourist bus to reach here. The bus fare for one-way travel to Pachmarhi from Pipariya starts from Rs.60, from Bhopal Rs.300, from Indore Rs.500, and from Nagpur Rs.500. The fare may go up to Rs.1500 and above in the case of luxury buses.  

By Train

Pipariya Railway Station which is 54 km away from Pachmarhi is the nearest to reach the district. Regular trains from all the major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru arrive here. One can consider traveling by train if looking for a comfortable and budget-friendly mode of transportation. Arriving from Delhi you may consider traveling by NZM-JBP Express, from Mumbai by Bhagalpur Express, from Kolkata by HWH Mumbai Mail, from Bengaluru by Sanghamitra Express, from Bhopal Junction by Intercity Express, and from Nagpur by Gangakaveri Express.

By Air

Raja Bhoj Airport in Bhopal is the nearest to reach Pachmarhi by air. The airport is roughly 200km away from the hill station and one can take a taxi or a bus to cover this distance. AirIndia, SpiceJet, and IndiGo run non-stop flights from Delhi with one-way fares starting from Rs.2000. From Mumbai, you may pick Air India or IndiGo for its non-stop flights with fare starting from Rs. 3000. From Kolkata and Bengaluru, there are majorly connecting flights to Bhopal, hence you may consider traveling by SpiceJet, IndiGo, and Air India.
