Baneshwar Temple

• A very ancient temple built on an island between the fast flow of Narmada is a SHIVALAY, it is believed that in the Dwapar era, Banasur had pleased Lord Shiva with hard penance here. 
• Construction of the Baneshwar Mahadev Temple is said to be about one thousand years old in 9th to 10 th century.
• Triangular walls of the temple is a fine sample of ancient technique which protects the temples from the sharp currents. 
• The peak of the temple was destroyed after a strong flood which has been repaired.
