About Bhopal

A graceful capital built around lakes, mosques and museums

Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, is uniquely built around two large lakes — the Upper Lake (Bada Talab) and Lower Lake. It was founded in 1707 by Dost Mohammad Khan.

Bhopal is famous for being ruled by four successive Begums who built the Taj-ul-Masajid and modernised the state.
