Two tall turrets, one arch, and beyond it a burial ground of saints and notables.

Situated in the Pathani Mohalla, this gateway consists of two lofty turrets flanking an arched doorway. Another arch would once have crowned the gate but it no longer survives. The gate forms the entrance to a cemetery holding the tombstones of saints and other eminent people, many of them decorated with highly plastic carving.
The two turrets are the tallest part of what remains, flanking the arched doorway. A second arch once crowned the gate and is gone, so the present outline is incomplete, which is worth knowing before you judge the proportions.
Through the gate is a cemetery with the tombstones of saints and other eminent people. Many carry highly plastic carving, and it is the carving rather than the gate that rewards the longer look here.
The gateway is in the Pathani Mohalla and leads into an active burial ground, so visit quietly and briefly.
October to March is the comfortable season for walking the mohallas of the old town. Raking light early or late brings out the deeply cut carving on the tombstones, which flattens badly under midday sun.
