Two women had this well built at the foot of Khandargiri hill, and verses in its walls say so.

This baoli lies some distance to the south of the town, at the base of the Khandargiri hill. Two inscriptions are set into the walls of its steps, written in Persian in the Nask script and composed in the form of verses. They record that the baoli was constructed by Savai Khair and Gule Bahashad, the wives of Sheikh Burahamuddin, during the reign of Sultan Naseeruddin Khilji. Work started on 25 November 1502 and the bawdi was completed in 1504.
The two inscriptions are unusual in form, written as Persian verses in Nask script rather than as plain records. They are installed within the walls of the steps, so you have to go down to read them, and they name the two women who had the well built.
The baoli sits at the foot of Khandargiri hill, away from the town, which makes it one of the quieter water monuments in Chanderi. The steps are the structure, and following them down is the whole of the visit.
The Gol Baoli is some distance south of the town at the base of a hill, so it needs transport or a long walk, and it has no facilities.
October to March is the comfortable season and keeps the steps dry underfoot. Middle of the day gives the most light inside the well, where the inscriptions are set into the walls of the stairs.
