A hundred and eight foot idol of Mahakali on the Bargi Dam road, the tallest statue in Madhya Pradesh.
The 108 ft tall statue of Mahakali stands on the Bargi Dam road, 33 km from the city of Jabalpur. It is the tallest statue in Madhya Pradesh, and the site is now known as the Rajeshwari Dakshineswar Kali Peetha.
At a hundred and eight feet, this is the tallest statue in the state, and its scale is the whole point of the visit. It is visible from the approach road well before you arrive.
The site is now called the Rajeshwari Dakshineswar Kali Peetha, which places the statue within a working centre of Kali worship rather than treating it as a standalone landmark.
This is a drive of over thirty kilometres out of Jabalpur on the Bargi Dam road, so it needs to be planned as its own trip.
Daylight hours suit the visit, since the height of the idol is what you have come to see. Navratri and other Kali festival periods will draw far larger crowds, so check before planning around those dates.
